Since 2015 it has been Affinity Quartet’s mission to see Australian musicians represented at a high level in the field of string quartet, and to invest in the growth of Australian chamber music at home and internationally. Our future depends on us continuing to develop excellence and creativity in our work. Affinity Quartet couldn’t do this without the support and shared passion of our audiences and advisors. Hilary McPhee AO (1941–2026) was Affinity Quartet’s founding chair, patron, and staunchest advocate

From inspiring us while Affinity Quartet was still a kernel of an idea, to connecting us with people and supporting our ambitions, her legacy is woven into everything we do. Hilary introduced us to Aireys Inlet a decade ago and in her final weeks she was reviewing and championing the launch of the Affinity Quartet Unlimited Academy (AQUA). In deep gratitude for her enduring guidance and belief in our vision, this mentorship program is dedicated to her memory.
